Rap is rap and good music is good music regardless of what the sales figures
say. What's popular and what's good are not necessarily the same. The
popularity of rap and other top charts you hear on the radio just go to show
the level of ignorance of the majority as a result of slick marketing and
hype. A young person can't begin to like or appreciate what he or she has
never had the chance to hear. Give a kid a horn and have him try to play
"Begin the Beguine" and he will have an instant appreciation for the big
band. It sure worked for me. Mike...I was one of those high school kids in
the audience when you played at Harborcreek H.S. with Kenton near Erie, PA.
I'm still practicing and trying to play as a result. Thanks.
