At least he was the "emminent" saxophone trumpet player.

As an aside, on the topic of saxophone trumpet players, has anyone caught
Billy Joel's live show lately? Carl Fisher has been with him for about a year
now and is featured on trumpet as well as a few songs on tenor sax.

Judge for yourself, in this case, from the description
someone has posted of an AL Hirt LP they are selling:

" Still has wrapper on it. But it is unsealed. Nice Album. I listened
to it this morning. He was the emminent saxophone trumpet player
during the late 1950's and early 1960's. Here are some of the
Pieces:
I can't get started, man with a Horn, Tansy, Night Theme, Talkin
About the River, Fly me to the Moon, To be in Love, Al Di La,
Malibu, Theme From a Dream, I'M Moving On. "

What does "saxophone trumpet player" mean?
