Ah! True words of wisdom Jean. Frankly, I never gave it a thought until this
thread surfaced and throughout my life accepted whatever was on the horn. I
have several horns, each with metal or plastic guides. Some have two keys
that fit into two slots and some have one that fit into one slot. To add to
the confusion, my Cali has one key that's fitted at the seven o'clock
position in the valve casings while others are at six o'clock or at six and
twelve o'clock. All I might care about is if I need replacement parts, do I
have to travel world wide to find them or will a simple phone call suffice?
That's secondary to my main concern when after I push down the valves
despite the guides being what they are, do they pop back up with speed and
efficiency? So far so good with any of my horns, and that's what really
counts to me. Nevertheless, thanks dudes. Now that I'm reading this thread,
what was to be a restful nap this afternoon turned into my waking up in a
cold sweat after dreaming that I was at the local supermarket where the
cashier asked me "Paper or plastic? Metal or plastic?" AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH
and Geegawds!
