For what it's worth, I found a post on trumpetherald.com indicating the
Conrad Gozzo played a 7C, modified by Bert Herick.

I came to the same conclusion.  I was using a 3c and the 7c seems to sound
richer, particularly in the staff and below.  I believe that the cup is
slightly deeper and has more volume (area).  The rim feels sharper than the
3c, but I seem to be making more head way with it.  I've been using it for a
couple of months now, and plan on continuing with it.
