The maker's name is Pedler.  

Harry Walter Pedler established his business in Elkhart in 1919, after previously working for Rudall, Carte, & Co., and Conn.  The company started as American Manufacturing with Gronnert in 1916 but with the death of Gronnert, company was renamed Harry Pedler Co.
 
Pedler retired from his own company in 1930

ART Musical Instruments was founded in 1932 by F. A. Buescher after he left the Buescher company. By 1934, Harry Pedler was vice-president, and after Buescher died in 1937, the company became Harry Pedler & Sons 

Pedler and died in  1950.    
 
In 1958, Selmer purchased the Harry Pedler and Sons brass plant on Superior Street, Elkhart.
 
Pedler instruments are said to be good quality instruments.

I like it -- a personalized lamp!

I think you will find the name is "Pedler" not "Peddler."

The Art Musical Instrument Company was incorporated by Gus Buescher in 
Elkhart around 1920  (I have the exact documentation somewhere, but am 
going on memory right now).

I don't know what the original objective was for the company.  I have a 
very beautiful, gold-plated Buescher "Art" trumpet, serial number 41, 
with unique art nouveau braces and other touches.  It is the only "Art' 
trumpet like it that I've ever seen; all other "Art" trumpets were of 
the student variety.

I don't know when Pedler acquired the "Art" name and trademark from 
Buescher, or whether they were in business together.

Just for fun question.

I purchased ($5.00 if you are interested) an old trumpet some time ago. 
It has engraved on the bell "Art," and so I am gong to make it into a 
lamp.

Does anyone know anything about the derivation of this horn or company? 
Here's the information:

Manufactured by Harry Peddler and Sons, Elkhart, Indiana; Serial 
number: 24094; lacquer. It is in the original case and even has The 
Bennett Band Book No. 1 with it, published by Fillmore Music House (528 
Elm St., Cincinnati, OH). The bell width (diameter) is 4 and 3/8 
inches.

It is quite heavy. Only a hammer could put a dent into it, unlike my 
Calicchio which dents if you look at it the wrong way.
