I have come across a couple instruments (a trumpet and trombone) that
were in no way repairable. I had a person squash them with a
roller/compactor. At the present time they are hanging on the wall of
my office in my school's bandroom. Every year I get asked what
happened to the instruments. And every year I say the same thing,
"Nothing, they just play a little flat."

I love it! I also have a friend who did that with some instruments and they
are in the music room in his home. I totally agree that if an instrument
isn't really repairable, that ANY kind of artwork that it is made into, is much
preferable to just throwing it away. And I also agree that the instruments
on the walls of restaurants DO at least keep the vision of music accessible
to the patrons.
