I joined the military. Under "needs of the army", I spent 3 years as an MP.
(ick) When I went to reenlist, Clinton did that whole "no transfer MOS"
deal whcih screwed me. I took my walking papers as a result. I always say,
If it wasn't for Clinton, I'd still be in the army. Oh well....:(

I know what you mean Jon. The military has some strange ways of operating.
While I can't quote the regulation chapter and verse, my Navy MOS as a rated
Navy musician barred me from working downtown and competing with civilian
musicians. Being that military musicians are often left with a lot of idle
time on our hands, I ended up working for an undertaker doing 'removals'. By
the same token, there was a Navy hospital corpsman on the same base whose
duties included being an embalmer which is a category within his rating
since he was licensed as one in civilian life. Because of the regulation, he
couldn't work downtown as such, and because he was a good sax player, he
could work downtown as a musician. Go figure!
