[TPIN] Ear protection

Tim,

I have a set of those. They don¹t work for me. I can¹t hear myself correctly
with them in. I hear myself inside my head like I have foam plugs in. It
isn¹t as bad, but it isn¹t good enough I¹m afraid.

I have this problem playing with my orchestra and in pit orchestra and in
other setting. The issue isn¹t ³louder is better.² the issue is my ears have
degraded to such a degree that things bother me that don¹t bother others. I
can¹t afford to drop my orchestra contract or to stop playing shows when
they come up.

Thanks
MA

Michael,

I'm going to stick my neck out and risk getting flamed here, but here it
goes.

If you must play in situations that are otherwise painful to the ears, then
get

some of those "musician's earplugs" that attenuate non-linearly and still
allow

somewhat reasonable hearing at normal levels. These are custom-fitted to
your

ear and I'm sure you know about them already.
