Greetings All--
I have just relocated to Roanoke, VA and am in search of arts/non-profit/cultural employment and opportunities to play trumpet (paid or unpaid).
TPIN has been wonderful to me as far as previous moves that I have made and I once again am appealing to its members for any advice or tips they may have to offer about Roanoke and the surrounding areas.
If you have any thoughts or advice concerning cultural employment or opportunities to play trumpet in the Roanoke area, please email me at bcrane77 at yahoo.com.
I have also included my professional biography below to give a better idea of who I am. Resumes and references are available upon request.
TPIN has been an invaluable resource to me; I thank everyone for their continued assistance and support.

Brian Crane is an emerging Arts Administration professional with rich experience and success in both the artistic and business aspects of non-profit organizations. Recently the Development Coordinator for Historic Columbia Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of historically significant buildings and sites throughout Columbia, South Carolina, Brian has made a considerable impact by designing the organizations first e-newsletter and overseeing its membership database. Leveraging leading-edge software programs to aggressively represent the organization and proactively promote membership and fundraising initiatives, Brians efforts propelled Historic Columbia Foundation into the information age.
Actively involved in the arts, Brian has performed as the lead trumpet and section player in the Columbia Jazz Orchestra in Columbia, South Carolina since December, 2006. Brian will complete his Masters degree in Arts Administration through Goucher College in Baltimore, Maryland. He seeks to promote the arts in local communities by working with non-profit and for-profit organizations to emphasize the role and contribution of the arts in society as a whole and by promoting and marketing the arts and cultural institutions utilizing his expertise in financial, legal, and organizational decision-making to enable artists to explore and present their visions. Prior to enrolling in the Goucher College Arts Administration program, Brian completed significant graduate coursework at Columbia College Chicago in their Arts, Entertainment, and Media Management program, developing skills in arts administration, management, and entrepreneurship to facilitate the arts and promote the vitality of modern cultural institutions and creative enterprises. He gained the ability to combine his aesthetic sensibilities with business acumen and management
methodologies to function effectively in cultural institutions and businesses.
Highly skilled on trumpet and flugelhorn, Brian has a long history of involvement in the arts. He served as a substitute music teacher at School Town of Highland in Highland, Indiana and as a member of The Commandants Own United State Marine Drum & Bugle Corps where he performed music and music-related tasks supporting military ceremonies, official functions, community relations, recruitment programs, and esprit de corps. He routinely interacted with high-ranking officials and dignitaries and was the sole musical representative performing final musical honors (Taps) at Marines funerals held at Arlington National Cemetery. Brian toured the world and had the opportunity to perform for numerous national and foreign dignitaries, including President George W. Bush, Queen Elizabeth II, and King Harald V of Norway.
Prior to his service in the Marine Corps, Brian attended Ohio Northern University, where he received a Bachelor of Music degree with a major in Music Performance.
