Good rant, but as an "orchestra guy" myself let me assure you that you are
preaching to the converted and I wholeheartedly agree that cornet parts are
usually meant to be played on cornets.
I'll also add that, being from the big wide world outside the borders of the
continental United States, I don't subscribe to the 11th commandment and
(shock, horror) tend to play most stuff on the Bb.
