In playing cornet for a pro or good amateur, I would certainly agree that
the proper sound comes from a V shaped mouthpiece and that is what I have for my
cornet, with the same rim as my other mouthpieces.
BUT for a beginning student, I would NEVER recommend a V shaped mouthpiece
for them to start on.
They should be using a regular cup shaped mouthpiece with a cornet shank to
fit the cornet.
