I am gobsmacked that someone would put a nice Burbank or LA Benge down
as a road horn. They aren't cheap on the used market and they aren't
that rugged. I would take a Strad out before I'd take the Benge, just
because there are so many used strads.
Now, I would put any good pocket trumpet in that list, and in fact I
bought my "The Burbank Trumpet" (Kanstul) pocket trumpet just for that
purpose, and a Walt Johnson case to go with it. The Walt case fits the
Benge wrap pockets perfectly, meaning Burbank, LA and UMI Benges, and
the Kanstul Custom Class and Burbank Trumpet pockets.
I often bring out the Burbank pocket for the occasional solo and the
bugling I do from time to time.
