Dude,
Just make sure you don't get confused and break into a funky R &B during the Symphony Concert. Last time I played an R&B gig the night before the symphony, I'm counting rests in Beethoven and the drummer in my head counts off Mustang Sally. Good thing the second player has been trained that it is the second tpts responsitibility to count measures and make the first tpt look good . That is why the second player gets paid the BIG MONEY. Either I was going to come in at the wrong place or I was going to get funky on Mustang Sally for Ludwig. Its too bad Beethoven wasn't alive now. He'd be a nasty B-3 player.
Those of you guys that play second tpt know that you are THE most important and underappreciated guy in the orchestra hands down. You are the glue of the brass section.
