Ghitalla crashed and burnd on many concrts whre h played solos especially with hs and college groups.

The story I heard, I hope some of youze guyz can verify this. Some may have been in attendance.

Rolf Smedvig, who is a marvelous trumpet playr played in the Boston Symphony , founded th Empire Brass Quntet was booked to play at an ITG confrence. You know, you gotta go out there and play for a buch of great professional colleagues and a hall full of players. I think he was playing Telemann. It was such a disaster that he walked off the stage in the middle of it. Didn't finish the tune. Playing in front of that audience got to him and the monster took the guy to the mat.

This is not to spread bad stories about these guys but to point out that the best of the best have been slaughtered by the beast. We play the horn at our own risk. We keep at it because the rewards are so often greater than th risks.

glenn, I have sucked extremely hard many times, bengry
