Leadpipes: Several options depending on the sound you are looking for
25-0 is the standard leadpipe for the XL Bore and also the LT180-72, it
is more open and free-blowing, less restrictive than the standard 25.
43 pipe, more open feeling with less resistance and more flexibility
than the standard 25 but with a brighter sound.
You may also consider converting your horn to a reverse leadpipe, that
would involve change the leadpipe ( you plan on doing this anyway) and
the tuning slide, would probably add between $100 and $150 to this total
project.
Bells: Again, several options depending on the sound.
43 brighter, more open than the 37
72 strong, powerful sound, darker than the 37.
Of course, this is if you want to remain with Bach equipment. There are
many many other options you should explore outside of the Bach brand,
especially in the leadpipe area. Some of the others on this list have
more experience with these leadpipes than I do, so I will let them fill
you in on those.
Hope this helps!

Here's a question for the group. I have an Elkhart Bach 37 that I
bought
new in the early 70's (I paid $350 for it, brand new street price.
Unbelievable, huh?).
Anyway, I am thinking about resurrecting it. The valves are still
pretty
good, but the leadpipe and bell are in need of replacement. My question
is: What combination of bell and leadpipe would give me a more open blow
than the standard 37 bell and 25(?) pipe? Or is that not feasable? TIA
Dave
