Hi Brendan
I should have responded faster, but no. It's a nice idea, in a commercial,
service oriented way, but I feel it doesn't hold water.
1. I have a pile of mouthpieces sitting in my studio. So do most players,
unless they offloaded them at some point.
2. In regards to beginners, why? They are in the midst of attempting to
learn new set of skills, and we're going to add more complexity to this by
experimenting with different mpcs?
So, nicely put - no way.
Now, if you're thinking of more advanced players, who have developed some
basic skills, and are looking to match what they play to what they are
capable of, there's merit in the idea. Various rim sizes and shapes, various
cup shape and depths, different backbores...
Now I see another problem - cost, if one is going to do it right.
cheers
Andy

Maybe I should put together a package for band directors working with
beginning trumpet players that includes varios sizes of mouthpieces.
For those who teach beginning students, is this something you would use?
How many pieces should be included? What sizes should be included?
