Hello All,

A few months ago I mentioned the Arturo Sandoval International Trumpet
Festival being held at FIU in Miami. Here is a follow-up message from my
friend Sam Lussier who is helping coordinate events... I forward it to all
of you on his behalf...

=====
Hi Jean. I wanted to give you a heads up to spread the word around town (and
to Toronto through Chase etc..) that next May 15-18 at FIU we are hosting
the 1st Annual Arturo Sandoval International Trumpet Festival & Competition
(ITFC). So far the confirmed guest-artist/clinicians and
judges include: Malcolm McNabb, Gary Grant, Sergei Nakariakov, Bob Karon,
Lew Soloff, Roger Ingram, Guy Touvron, and, of course, Arturo. I'm also
organizing additional preliminary competition judges and clinicians from
South Florida (6-8). I'm coordinating the event for Arturo (this is a
separate entity from my FIU day gig) and will be sending out posters
advertising the event in September. We're also placing an ad in the ITG
journal and the IAJE journal this Fall. Our website will be up and running
soon and will have all the particulars. The host facilities are FIU and the
Deauville Hotel on South Beach. Competitors can be 30 and younger and all
styles are welcome (jazz and legit). The cost to attend the 4 day event will
be around $225 US and we're getting a deal
at the Deauville for rooms as well. Transportation to the University from
the Hotel morning and return at night will be complimentary. I look forward
to seeing you (and many other Canadians) in Miami!

All the best,

Sam.

Dr. Sam Lussier
Director of Jazz Studies
FIU School of Music
Executive Producer Arturo Sandoval ITFC
