Jean,

I enjoyed meeting you and Rick and other TPINNER's at ITG! Wish I coulda
seen you guys play the tribute.

I saw Arturo at the Corporate Woods Jazz Fest *outdoors" last Saturday eve.
I had to cover my ears as I was in the front row. There was too much
amplification but I wanted to see the guy rather than watch the screen.

Friends,

I have to tell you about a great event that took place last night at the
Ottawa International Jazz Festival. Fellow TPINNER Rick Rangno was featured
along with several other great local players in a one and a half hour
tribute to the BOSS... Rick was absolutely amazing. He got stronger as the
night went on. His rendition of Maria was impeccable... I wish I hadn't been
playing in the section so that I could have heard it from our front! And if
that wasn't enough, his interpretation of Bridge Over Trouble Waters brought
the standing room only crowd to its feet! Rick was helped out by Marc Bailey
who covered some MF standards like MacArthur Park, Country Road and Hey
Jude.

As for my part, it was definitely a supporting role but extremely exciting
to play those charts with these guys! I did get my three minutes in the
limelight as I covered MFs part for the Summer of '42. While nowhere near as
good a player as Rick or Marc, I think I acquitted myself well in the
circumstances! It was just a blast actually getting to play the tunes I grew
up listening to.

After a rousing rendition of Hey Jude the evening concluded with Walter
White's arrangement of Taps (for Maynard)... there wasn't a dry eye in the
audience.

If you ever get a chance to hear, play or study with Rick Rangno take it...

you won't be disappointed... he's the real deal!

Later,

Jean
