Bill sums up my feelings on Robert King Music Sales. What's up with
them? Can't talk with a human and can't return music? Forget it.

Sheet Music Service in Portland, OR does have knowledgeable staff and
are good to work with, but I think things have gotten stricter under the
new owners. I saw a sign in their store that said "No Returns." This was
not previously the case, as I recall. I would inquire about their return policy
when buying anything mail order. They still have a very respectable stock
of music, more so than most retailers.

J.W. Pepper has a local store in my area, mostly for the school band and
choir directors to come and listen to promotional discs and check out the
latest offerings from the publishers. They will order for me though, and
  provide decent service.

Sheet Music Service (Portland, OR) has always done well by me. They are
under a new umbrella ownership (Pender's Music) but even in recent orders
they have served me quite well. Only real change is that they do not send
orders with later billing. Orders now must be with credit cards. They do
have internet services and standard ordering with payment (checks, money
orders etc.)

Hickey's is also a good source.

I have also had good service from New England Sheet Music.

Robert King is always an option but since one cannot actually speak with
anyone in person there, I use them only as a last resort.
