My two favorite shows to play were City of Angels and Fiddler on the
Roof. City of Angels has some fun stuff in it, Fiddler was my very
first show that I played in, so maybe that is why I liked it so much,
totally different experience....
I do remember some difficult fingerings and keys in some of the dance
parts on Fiddler though.
Anything Goes was fun, just because they dressed me up in a sparkly vest
and tie and I got to go on stage to play the part of Gabriel....

Subject: [TPIN] Favorite B'way Show?
All,
We opened my daughter's high school production of Thoroughly Modern
Mille last night. The kids did really well and the audience enjoyed
themselves. And I enjoyed the challenge of putting it out there with
only 1 and a half rehearsals. I blew a few accidentals in those
sections in B and F#. Nice for the singers and strings, maybe, but not
happy keys for me on limited rehearsal time.
So this got me wondering.....
Which Broadway show is your favorite from the trumpet player's point of
view? I imagine there are some composers who write and arrange really
well for brass, and some shows that may not be fun to play because the
parts are poorly written or fiendishly difficult to the point of
detracting from the show itself.
And to all the pro show players on the list I say 'Bravo!' for being
able to handle the demands of the gig.
