The Shastock is the standard if you can get hold of one. They do come up on
eBay occasionally. I find they are easier to play in tune than the newer
models.

I wasn't aware that Shastock manufactured a Solotone type mute. I always
associated Shastock as being a cup mute. These are still available, being
sold as 'new' on several online sites. I checked WWBW and Osmun's to check
the availability of the H and B Solotone (aka Clear Tone), but they're on
back order for a delivery date sometime in May. You might try Dillon since
they didn't mention it being back ordered. A nice song to use the Solotone
with is Stardreams as played by Charlie Spivak. A nice rendition of the song
was done by Shorty Sherock using the Solotone on Tutti's Trumpets.
