Mediocrity is NOT something to "strive" for, it is something to live down
to,  and then accept that you don't want to make a commitment to do ANYTHING
really well.

if anyone is going to try to play a musical instrument, shouldn't they
strive to be as good as they can, with the amount of time that they have to
play and practice?

If you have 1/2 hour a day to practice,  shouldn't you make that time period
COUNT for something?  You can still  strive to be the best you can, with the
tools that you have.
