[TPIN] When is too much... too much...

Also... In Louis Davidson's famous book "Trumpet Profiles" Maynard Ferguson
indicated that he almost *never* practiced, because he was always too busy
playing and performing. It's probably a common attribute for any busy
musician.
Years ago, when I was playing "professionally" (not to open that subjects
can of worms again... But I'm lacking for a better word)... I would do a
15-20 minute warm-up/practice in the morning, because that's all the time I
could afford - and I couldn't "waste it" in the practice room if I had two
gigs later that day. When I used to complain about this to my teacher, he
would say "Hopefully, you'll *always* be too busy"...
I also felt that I played my best (stricly speaking - in terms of sound,
correctness, etc.), when I was busiest with gigs. Probably because I wasn't
screwing myself up in the practice room!!! <ggg>

If its any encouragement to you, James Morrison has said in interviews that
he almost never practices. He just plays - a lot (like you). He does OK.

Right now I feel like I'm in a rut... I'm doing tons of playing but I'm not
finding the time I need to practice the things that I know will make me a
better player down stream...
