Greetings TPINers,
I just left a rehearsal with my local community orchestra. We're playing
Finlandia and Beethoven's 5th on our next concert. My typical mouthpiece
setup is a Warburton 5D with a 7 backbore. I wasn't centering pitches
tonight on the Beethoven at all, and was getting frustrated with my
inability to get a focused sound at loud volumes. I had an 80 series
Warburton 7 backbore in my case, and I switched to it to see if it would
help, as it is advertised to do. I'm now a huge fan! If you play Warburton
mouthpieces and haven't tried the 80 series backbores for big symphonic
playing, I highly recommend that you do. The notes just "slotted" right in
there, and my pitch and center of focus were improved to the point that the
guy next to me commented on it.
If you're a Warburton player, check out the 80 series backbores. They
aren't what you want all the time, but in the right circumstance... All
good!
