Glenn and others,
I wonder if being deaf in one ear is the same as having a foam ear plug in
when it comes to how you hear yourself internally and externally. Of course,
if I played all the time with one ear plug in I would eventually adapt, but
that isn¹t going to happen. The horn player in front of me uses ear plugs in
both ears quite often.. I don¹t know how he does it. I¹ve tried and it
sounds horrible. I¹m hoping for a better solution.
Thanks for all the ideas.

MA,
I'm not sure you'll find this much of a solution but perhaps a
perspective. Please
bear with me, its a little long.
I've been stone deaf(not tone deaf, you knuckleheads, who are already
thinking of that joke)
in my right ear since I was 9. It doesn't help me if somebody is right
behind my head, but I
often use it to my advantage. Since most of the situations I play in are
not too rigid
regarding such requests and the tpts can fit on eith side
of the center, or in the center, AND since it doesnt usually matter which
order the tpt section
sets up in I can request that we try adjusting the section placement(I only
do this occasionally)
