I think having ear plugs in makes me feel like I'm hearing an outboard motor 
while I'm under water (remember swimming in the lake as a kid!). One earplug 
is the best solution, in my book.
As far as being deaf, I am partially hearing challenged in my left ear, but 
it doesn't affect my ability to hear my sound when I play.
I gotta be able to hear how I sound and project, or I can't stand it.

I got a kick out of the guy (whoever you were) who suggested using the 
earphones he shoots guns with! That was hilarious...(no offense). Imagine in 
your tux at the gig, and you with these huge earphones on....

Anyway, earplugs in general, suck. IMHO

Having said that, I really wish I wasn't going deaf from being on a sound 
stage with a really loud band every weekend. Maybe if we all think really 
hard?
