[TPIN] seeing the musicians

"A Little Night Music" was one of the first shows I played in NYC.  
The orchestra had only TWO mikes in the pit.......and small grand  
piano. The conductor controlled the orchestra's dynamics. The show  
was barely miked onstage. We were seen. The band wore tuxs.
Compare that with the over-amplified hidden pit ninjas of today. Loud  
or soft, it doesn't matter, that kid with a pony-tail will fix  
everything in the mix :-}
