I just got back from the concert................ it was FANTASTIC!!!!!!!
Alison Balsom played on a picc, C trumpet AND a natural trumpet. The
nat have holes for tuning purpose. She played the whole concert by
memory!
She played flawlessly.
I had great seats in the balcony. Jimmy Owens, Chris Bubolz, Dominic
Derasse and Mike Ponella were in attendance. A TM member from L.I.
was there, I'm bad with names, sorry

Her playing was impeccable. She played with an ensemble made up of
violin, cello and keyboards. The first half used harpsichord, the
second part was played on piano.

The program was widely varied. She started the concert on piccolo, a
Scherzer, I think, then switched to the natural trumpet. The first
half of the concert was baroque music.
The second half began with the Goedicke "Concert Etude," it was well
played. She arranged or transcribed everything on the program.
de Falla, Lindberg and Piazolla, were the other composers played on
the second half.

I was impressed by her ease of execution, her accuracy, her dead-on
intonation......I did not see her using any false fingering, my
friends say she used 2 and 3 on the Ebs. I didn't see it
She has chops to burn, that was a long concert.

And she is stunning to look at

Wilmer
