[TPIN] mouthpiece re-plating?

Hi Bob,
Try a jeweler. I had this done years ago with a couple of old Mt Vernon
mouthpieces (one of them Tony Marchione's old 7B from Curtis days - used to
use that for orchestral stuff for a while).
I went to a jeweler down in center city Philadelphia at the time - probably
any jeweler equiped with electrolytic plating equipment can handle it. They
use them for refinishing/restoring gold & silver jewelry. It worked well
for me.
Cheers,
- Dave
PS:
Real shame about Billy Z. Couldn't make it down for the memorials, but plan
to donate to the scholarship fund.

[Subject: [TPIN] mouthpiece re-plating?

[I still have my first trumpet mouthpiece - and it's still my favorite
[- a stock Bach 7E from around 1970. The problem is that the plating
[is badly worn and is actually starting to flake off inside the cup.
[I think it's time for a re-plating as it's really become unplayable.
[My repairman doesn't do this and didn't have any
[recommendations for me.
[
[Can anyone point me in the right direction? It might also be
[cool to find someone to copy the mouthpiece - even better if
[it's the same shop...
