[TPIN] music reading glasses

I use a pair of glasses my optician made to focus at about two and a
half feet, when I have to play fast. All the studies on reading show
improvement with increased visual discrimination.
For me, c. 60 yrs old, what works better than the glasses in most
situations is a clip on light that attaches to the music stand. More
light lets me see the small notes on a page WAY better. This
especially helps with lessons, where -these days as a teacher -I have to
avoid rubbing elbows with all teenaged students, and the actual distance
to the stand can vary quite a bit.
These 'reading' lenses are no good outside of their intended range,
unlike trifocals, or progressive lenses, which I find cumbersome.
The light I use is a small, lightweight, battery powered one with twin
florescent like heads, so its little beams can reach both sheets of a
music book, or work to intensify a single page. A lot of music
stores have them, and are a must for my vision in dim settings, and well
worth the small surcharge for twin heads.
