[TPIN] Baritone-help with trumpet playing?

I figured a terse response would be less than helpful.

My own experience has been that playing trombone, baritone,
or even tuba has done me no harm. I do not use low brass
playing as a regular part of my routine. I don't know if it
has helped, I don't believe I suffered ill from it. I do
enjoy the overall relaxed feeling in the chops after
playing trombone.

During my time at IU (1968-72) I know that Mr. Adam had a few
students play baritone for a while instead of trumpet to
sort through some chop problems, the results were positive.
I don't understand enough about this to presume to ask a student
to do this myself. Some kids are interested in messing with
low brass; if and when it starts to be a problem for the
trumpet they always quit on their own. This is pretty
self-regulating as MV points out. If it doesn't feel right
don't do it. You can also mess yourself up by hitting yourself
over the head with a hammer enough times.

On the other hand I've never known a trumpet player
who hopelessly messed himself up playing a low brass instrument.
