[TPIN] A question about rehearsing on the same day as a gig

It's not the end of the world. You do have to remember the difference between a rehearsal and a performance, since you (like me) don't play like this everyday. I often have a rehearsal before a hard performance. I sandbag it through the rehearsal when I need to, practice what I need to practice and usually can make it through the performance. It is not always with church groups that this happens, but amateur choirs and orchestras tend to schedule 4:30 run throughs right before the 6:00 downbeat. I think they assume a pretty short attention span for the players and singers ( and probably rightfully so).
Pace yourself, play what you need to play in rehearsal and take it easy on the rest. Hopefully, you'll be okay. For me, getting the notes in my head is more crucial than actually playing the charts at full steam at the rehearsal.

If anyone has any tips, either for the practice or on ways to ensure a
good
recovery later on, I'd sure appreciate the advice.
