OK - so you all know how I like to "stir things up" sometimes?
Well, here is a copy of an email that I sent to the Encore Publishing
people. I think it will be interesting to see what response I get.

I don't know if you have seen it or not, but there has been some talk and
discussion about your new book on TPIN (Trumpet Players International Network).
As someone who has played out of the Arban method for 55 years, and taught
out of it for 40 years, I whole heartedly agree that the Arban method is
still the "bible" for trumpet players. And - I know that Allen has probably
written some wonderful comments to help students. He is one of my favorite
trumpet players and a great clinician. Also one of my favorite people, even
though we don't get to hang out much.
So - to be completely honest, here is the one problem that I have. There is
no way that I can be comfortable with asking a young student to spend $56
for an Arban's book. While some nice comments were made on the TPIN network,
the mention of your book actually was a good "sales pitch" for other volumes
that are no where near as expensive. I really believe that with a more "
realistic" price, you would have sold "tons" of these.
Just some thoughts from a concerned trumpet pro, clinician and teacher.
