[TPIN] Air and Stomach Conception

Chris,

Air only goes into the lungs. Most current wisdom says to keep your chest up
while playing (which, if practiced correctly, encourages the proper muscles
in your adomen and back to support the exhalation). Breath deep, but
relaxed, keep the shoulders down and just think of keeping the chest up as
you play. It should feel natural, if you're breathing correctly.

Claude Gordon has some excellent material covering this - very common sense,
but supported with a lot of science. First read his explanations in
his "Systematic Approach" and "Brass Playing is No Harder Than Deep
Breathing".
