Well, Al, without quoting your whole message, I would say that:
1. I am not the only one on this list with negative feelings about the
Monette horns.
2. I wish I could put on the list, some of the many messages I got off list
agreeing with me, but not wanting to get into the "fray" on the list.
3. I have witnessed first hand, the things that I talked about - Going off
on people about holding or picking up the horn wrong or taking out a tuning
slide, while in their booth; telling me that I stand wrong; and I do seem to
remember that (albeit years ago) I did hear one of his people talk in the booth
about a "tune-up" that there was a charge for.
Now, with all that said, you are probably right. I do have a bias against
the horns. The funny thing is that I know Dave and I actually like him. We
have hung out together on a few occaisions. We actually have some of the same
ideas about music education and other things. I just don't like the horns
or the ideas behind them. I have played them and they are just not for me.
With that said, I will get off my "high horse" on the subject for this list.
Mike Vax
