Sonare Trumpets has come out with a new Bb with sterling silver leadpipe and
a new C trumpet that will compete extremely well with Bach/yamaha/schilke if
people will give them a chance. Their price point is lower - around $1600,
they play really well.. I mean really well and they seem to be very
consistent.

I played a few of the Sonare trumpets a couple of weeks ago, and while I
believe they do seem to be made to play, look, and feel like a Bach, I played
the back to back with a couple new Bachs, and there was a considerable
difference - meaning the Bach played MUCH better.

I know Bach is under fire right now, and rightfully so, because of the BS
last year, the strike, the junk that they were producing etc, but I believe,
based on the quality and playability of the horns that I have played that have
been manufactured post strike, that they got their act together, and the new
horns play very well... as good or better than my old 1970s models that I own.

The Sonare horns, to me, play like an imitation Bach. They are almost
right... but not quite. I think they are a good student model horn. ( I think
they have a Blackburn lead pipe).

I played one with a silver lead pipe, and one with a brass lead pipe, and
the silver pipe seemed better to me... but neither played as well as a Bach when
I pushed the horn to its limits....intonation was not as good, the horn was
not as even throughout, and when I really opened up, the horn became very
spread.

I don't think they are a value at $1600 at all. For my $1600 I would rather
get a Yamaha Bobby Shew 8310, which plays like a dream!
