Al's statement joined mid sentence:

Everyone faces criticism, Dave is no different just because he's Dave

> > Likely no maker in the history of instruments has faced the > polarizing effects that David has on the trumpet world. And, even > today, the mention of his name with anything positive on this list, > on trumpet herald, or any of a number of other places causes > consternation and ill will.

Dave has brought much of this upon himself. His attitude toward many people including
extremely accomplished players has been condescending. If someone doesn't like a Monette horn
on many instances, the player has been told that they are not playing right, or its implied that their is something wrong with the player. I also know an extremely fine "major" orchestral player
that inquired about Dave's horns. Dave insinuated that he wasn't a major player and that he should consult one of the MAJOR players. That behavior drips with arrogance and condescension. Needless to say, his treatment of that player didn't earn him any
respect of credibility.

His pricing alone insults a lot of players and a lot of the brilliant makers going back over 100 years.
He can charge what he wants, but people don't have to respect his pricing or the attitude that goes along with it.

First of all, here, to judge "the forum" is innappropriate. It is made up of individuals. With all due respect, Al, don't lump me in with several hundred people and pass judgment upon my "growth" in regards to the Monette subject.

Secondly, it comes across as judgmental to make a comment about our "growth" as if you are in some position to Judge it or to decide what "growth" is in the first place. This is part of the attitude that turns many people off in regard to Dave and his horns in the first place.
