Are Monette's very good trumpets, you bet they are.
They are innovative and very well made. Are they worth
their expensive price, I do not think so. As a trumpet
player I am first looking for the trumpet that sounds
the best. I do not think that Monette trumpets sound
the best. I think that my 1928 Conn 2b in quad gold
has the finest most beautiful sound of any trumpet
that I have ever heard. I have heard many different
trumpet players play all kinds of Monette horns and I
have not heard one trumpet player sound as good as the
Conn 2b sounds.

I am also looking for a trumpet that fits my style ,
has good intonation and is easy to play. For me the
Calicchio and the WT large bore trumpets fit my style
the best, and that is why I am in the process of
switching to the Wild Thing. Were the monette and the
Wild Thing trumpets both the same price, I honestly
would choose to play the WT.

I am also looking for a trumpet that has ease of use.
Any trumpet that can not be placed on a horn stand
without receiving a lot of damage is inconvenient to
use.

I think the high price of Monette both attracts some
player to it, and prohibits other players from owning
one. Were I able to afford it, I would buy a Monette
flumpet, bit I guess they now must be six or seven
grand so the average Joe like me can not afford one.
