At the risk of sounding immodest and "promotional," the idea of a Tip of the Day is the basis of
a publication which I recently wrote ("365 Trumpet Lessons, 2008 Edition") and is published by Note-A-Day Publishing. The "book" is presented beautifully in a calendar format. So, each day of the year the student gets a "lesson" (really a "tip") and some additonal guidance. Also daily entertaining "trumpet trivia."
It's important to understand that the book/calendar content is geared toward the younger elementary/middle/high school student (although the jazz improv lessons are a bit more involved).
We positioned the "book" as a gift item or supplement item that parents/teachers would buy for their kids/students. Again, while sound from a pedagogical standpoint, it is not geared for the pro.
Some of you, like Jeanne, Bob Odneal, Leon, and Rich Willey were aware of this project as I worked on it. Also, many ideas and "lessons" presented cover all the bases that they/we talk about here and elsewhere.
If anyone is interested, please visit http://www.note-a-day.com/trumpet-calendar.html. An e-version is available and the hard copy is available both there and at major music retailers.
Again, sorry for the "pitch."
Nick
