Actually, some of might us recall Al's recording of the Haydn Concerto in which he did lip 
slurs instead of finger trills.

Hirt was best known as a dixieland player, though he did quite a few non dixie 
recordings that hit the top 40 charts.  We all do things to pay the bills and 
make money.  It's not a crime, unless you are breaking the law, of course.
