My two daughters have gone into teaching, and I have this theory that if a
teacher can some how motivate the student, 99% of the teaching is done and now
your task is to give good and proper direction to their learning and
encourage to keep the motivation in place!! I am not a teacher, but am playing the
trumpet today because I had a teacher that motivated me and kept the "carrot"
out there until I was over the hump so to speak! I teach a boys S.S. class and
boy does it work well there!! But on the flip side, it is disheartening when
you are unable to motivate!!

I have always maintained that as a classroom teacher:

"For 10% of my students, I was a "super teacher"....for 80% of my
students, I was a 'good' teacher......and for 10% of my students I was a
'lousy' teacher'.

When you evaluate a teacher's effectiveness, you must, of necessity,
evaluate his/her students' ability and desire to learn! It's amazing to
me that this relationship so often seems to be ignored when issuing
"teacher evaluations".
