One of the reasons you don't see professional orchestras letting their hair
down and taking great risks with the music is because the jobs are so
tenuous and the "CD Standard" is so important to music directors and
audiences. Because of the risk of making mistakes you get drab, "safe"
performances. Digital editing has ruined live performance imo particularly
for brass players.
