[TPIN] Good news

Some of you may remember all the trouble I've been having with ear pain in
my spot in the orchestra. I'm happy to say that the setup issues have been
resolved for this season. Something I've been trying to get to happen for
three years has happened and it is so much better I can't believe it.
They moved the timpani to the floor and away from me. Plus, we put in about
12 feet of space between the trumpets/bones and the horns and created a
"DMZ." everyone in the brass area can hear the whole orchestra so much
better and our bell sounds aren't mixing like they used to.
Percussion are hearing us better and time in the orchestra is greatly
improved. We don't need shields or ear plugs. The conductor digs it too.
I've been cautiously working on this for three years and it finally
happened. I didn't raise hell and demand a change.. I took the passive-
aggressive approach and convinced the principals that it would be better for
us from a performance perspective and they got it done and I don't come off
like a malcontented whiner. It turned out great too.
Thanks for all the help and suggestions.
