The A4a mouthpieces are meant for picc. trumpet, although bigger cup
mouthpieces sound a lot better than these pea shooters. I especially wouldn't
recommend that for someone playing with braces. She should be playing with more of
a pucker, which means she needs a larger mouthpiece, not smaller. I played on
a Bach 1 1/2 B when I had braces. I would stay away from a shallow, bright
mouthpiece that really isn't useful long term, unless she ends up playing lead
in a jazz band.

Boy, Laura, I don't know where you got your information, but the "A4a"
mouthpieces had NOTHING to do with piccolo trumpet in the begining. They were
designed people who happened to be lead trumpet players in big bands. Three
that come to mind are: 6A4a - Bill Chase, 13A4a - Mike Vax, 14A4a - Forrest
Buchtel.
And here we go again............ HOWEVER, many of us who play shallower
mouthpieces, do OTHER kinds of playing on them besides just playing lead in a
big band. Please don't say that they are not useful long term. Maybe not for
you, but they can be for other people. And - please don't call them "pea
shooters."
Maybe we should call a 1 1/2 Bach a "sledge hammer......"
Mike Vax
