As a comeback player myself I did three things.  Purchased the Arbans, signed up to take lessons and joined a community band.  
 
I have been having a blast and learning new things and meeting great people and there is very little stress and my playing has improved as well as my sight reading tremendously.  I also play at my wife's church anytime I want or when she asks me to, which is quite often.  I no longer have to practice two weeks on a song just not to be nervous playing in church.  It's difficult to just practice without having a public outlet to perform.
