Well I'm not a mind-reader, but I took it at as the OP recognizing that this is
a tender, volatile, often-times smartassy subject. It wasn't like he
challenged anyone's ancestry. Plus, everyone knows the 13a4a is a
dime-with-a-dent, not a golf tee. ;) I guess I just didn't see the flamebait
like you did.

Amen, Tim, but where did Steve suggest that? He specifically asked, "is it
just me?" How can that be turned into a one-size-fits-all proclamation? Not
everyone loves playing those lighter-than-tin-foil Benges, with the pancake
D/Eb/E fourth partial either. I'm over it.

I couldn't find the word cheater in the OP. Where's all this resentment coming
from?

I still remember "Momma Bb," one of my favorite all-time TPIN epistles. I
forget who wrote it. Might have been Dr. Klages. The only orchestra arrogance
I've experienced is from the Bach-C-229-or-death crowd. We must run in
different circles.

Amen again.

As are angry reactions when a guy says he can't figure out how to use a certain
tool, and doesn't understand how others make it work.

Amen amen amen.
- unless you are in beginning band

'69 was fourth grade... the year the orchestra teacher tried to turn me into a
string bass player.
