Glenn,
The trouble with listening to it on the CD is the fact that the orchestra 
version is in C concert, and the band version is in Bb. There would be less 
confusion by just getting a copy of whatever arrangement he is doing. I have 
played it with bands about a dozen times (in Bb), but I don't have the 
music.

Larry,

    I learned the solo by listening to it and playing short sections at a 
time.  I am a believer that you will both learn it better and play it better 
if you take the time to do this.  I could play it cold right now because I 
learned it that way.  If you don't already have the Boston Pops Summon the 
Heroes recording, it is a MUST  for a brass players library.  Some great 
music and some really fine playing on that recording.  It doesn't get much 
more exciting than that.
