[TPIN] Solotone mute?

I might be the only person who's ever thought this, but whenever I hear the 
Dokschitzer recording of the Arutunian it always sounds like a solotone mute to 
me, even though it's probably just a Russian cup mute. 
I've performed the muted section with a solotone mute from the 1940s. It's a 
bit of a different sound from the modern solotones.
