Sorry to be late, but I'm catching up a bit better. My playlist is:
1. Two Bbs, a Bach with 43 leadpipe, 37 bell, megatone 1c mouthpiece,
and a King silver flair with a 7m King mouthpiece. Every once in a
while, I'll use a Bach 1d Leon Merian sold me on the Bach, too. This is
according to wht I'm doing and how I'm feeling.
2. Large bore Bach C with 229 bell. I play the 1c megatone on that one.
3. Bach d/eb and I experiment with mouthpieces on that one including my
Kelly 1c, my megatone, my King 7m, and every once in a while something
else.
3. NY Bach 1935 cornet with a megatone 1c mouthpiece. I've tried the
deeper cup stuff including a Dennis Wick and use it every once in a
while, but after doing some long listening to old cornet players and
accounting for recording differences of the time, I've decided I'll keep
a bit brighter sound. I also use my 1908 Conn Conqueror with any of the
mouthpieces I use on the other cornet. I haven't experimented enough
with the C side and some of the crooks and gadgets it has, but intend to
in the next few months. I'll first try it at church which turns out to
be my proving ground as long as I can still put out a good, professional
product in terms of the music I play.
4. Getzen Eterna flugelhorn, old one from the early 1970s. I wouldn't
trade this one given the way it sounds. I've tried others.
5. Bach bass trumpet with a 12c trombone mouthpiece.
6. Bach picc from the early 1980s, (the short one) and use either my 7m,
Kelly, or 1c megatone according to how I feel and sound desired. I've
heard a thousand horror stories about these Bach piccs, but mine works
fine.
7. During my present opportunity to truly practice, first time in 30
years or so, I hope to develop chops to experiment with my F/G on the
Brandenburg. I don't quite have all chops needed, but am working that
way.
