[TPIN] What do you play?

I have to admit I'm catching up as well...

1) Bach Strad ML37, stock from the factory, with a Bach 1C mouthpiece with an S backbore (loaned to me by my teacher, Rick Lehman, back in 1985, and he was gracious enough to let me keep it, rest his soul). Every once in a while, I put in a Bach 1B when I'm feeling especially "manly"...i.e. have been practicing for a while.

2) Bach Strad CL 239, stock from the factory, with the same 1C mouthpiece. Sometimes I use the rounded crook I got from Bach, and sometimes I don't...just depends on my mood, and who I need to blend with in church.

Both horns are early 1990's vintage, and play wonderfully. I wore out my original stock Strad I got when I was a freshman in high school in 1980...I guess I practiced too much in college :-) But I liked the 1st valve trigger on it...always was a good conversation starter at gigs.

Best horn I ever played was a 1960's lacquer Bach Strad CL 239 with a Blackburn 12-350 pipe and a rounded tuning crook. It was owned by the university, and I played it in orchestra and also gigging around when I was in school. I would have sold relatives to have kept that axe...
